In my opinion, chocolate just makes everything better... and this delicious chocolate porridge is no exception. This recipe came from wanting to spice up my winter breakfast and bring a bit of excitement to my morning routine. It tastes beautifully indulgent and will give you the kick you need to get going, even on the greyest of mornings! For this recipe I used pure cacao powder (available in some supermarkets and most health food stores) which, due to its minimal processing, retains far more nutrients than cocoa powder. To name a few, its loaded with antioxidants and magnesium which is essential for many processes in our bodies including keeping our brains and muscles healthy. Talk about supercharging your breakfast!!
INGREDIENTS
1 cup oats
1 cup coconut milk (or other plant-based milk)
1 cup cold water
1 tbsp chia seeds
1/2 - 1 tbsp raw cacao powder (to taste)
1/2 tbsp maple syrup (adjust to taste)
Toppings: Feel free to play around with toppings and make it your own. Some ideas:
Banana
Ground Flax Seed
Coconut Flakes
Cacao Nibs
Almond Butter
If you don't have a measuring cup then a small coffee cup (around 250ml) will work too.
