I was obsessed with chocolate milk when I was younger. My sister and I used to pride ourselves on persuading my dad to stop off at the petrol station on the way to school and pick up the mini cartons with the pull out straws. Granted, I now realise it wasn't the healthiest start to the day but it was a highlight of the week and my passion for chocolate milk still persists today. So I wanted to create a healthier version that would be just as satisfying but also make me feel great.
Get ready to have your socks blown off with this incredibly indulgent and super delicious Chocolate Chia Smoothie that will have you glowing from the inside out. Packed with fibre, healthy fats and loaded with nutrients this smoothie will both fill you up and satisfy that chocolate craving without causing your blood sugar to spike and crash. It can be thrown together in under 5 mins so its perfect when you need a boost of energy, a quick breakfast or a snack to keep you going between meals.
My special ingredient in this smoothie is actually frozen courgette. It gives the smoothie a beautifully creamy, earthy flavour and you really wouldn't know it was in there! Courgette is loaded with nutrients including vitamin c and potassium which is important for keeping our muscles healthy and our nervous system functioning properly. If you really can't get past the idea of putting courgette in a smoothie then you can use banana instead but do give a try at least once - like me, you may be surprised!!
